O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center awards $530,000 in cancer-related research grants through O’Neal Invests

The UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is pleased to announce its latest O’Neal Invests grant awards. O’Neal Invests funds UAB investigators initiating new cancer-related projects to do key preliminary work to enable competitive extramural applications.

The sixth grant cycle was last fall. Each application was reviewed by three panel members, who scored it and provided written comments. There were 26 grant applications; 11 applications were discussed during the review panel meeting, and four received a fundable score. The O’Neal Cancer Center received 18 Pre-R01 grant applications and eight Catalyst grant applications. The four awardees are listed below.

The grants are peer-reviewed by a panel of UAB faculty. Applicants who are not awarded funding receive feedback on their proposals from the review panel and are encouraged to reapply.

Letters of intent for the next round of O’Neal Invests grants are due March 21, 2023. The final grants will be due May 5, 2023.
